The RNLI bicentenary scroll on tour

Jouer un petit rôle dans le bicentenaire de la RNLI

Earlier this year we were contacted by the RNLI. They were making plans ahead of their 200th year anniversary celebrations this year. Clearly a significant milestone for any organisation, but for one who are funded mainly from donations and run largely by volunteers it's an achievement worth shouting about.

200 years of the RNLI

The RNLI were making provision to store and protect their "Connecting Communities scroll" ahead of a mammoth tour around the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The scroll started its journey back in March from Westminster and will fittingly finish in Douglas, Isle of Man, the original birthplace of the RNLI in 1824.

RNLI Production Support Manager Janine Groves told us that,

"The Shadow Foam was just what we wanted for our project"

...which was a material to both display and protect the scroll and the equipment travelling with it throughout the tour. They added,

"Great product. I must say what a great choice this was. It was so easy to cut and looks great with the orange background. Would definitely use this again."

The RNLI provides on-call, 24 hour lifeboat search and rescue services, with a fleet of more than 330 lifeboats and hovercraft. In the 200 years since it's inception, it's widely credited with having saved around 139,000 lives.

So it's blown us away to receive this feedback from them, and we couldn't be prouder to have played even just a small part in this epic project. Wishing the team every continued success on the tour and for the centuries ahead.
