Installer Show 2026: The biggest trends we spotted from the UK's leading installer event

If you work in the trades, chances are Installer Show is already on your radar. As the UK continues to see rapid change across heating, energy efficiency and construction technology, events like this have become an important meeting point for manufacturers, installers and innovators.

Recognised as one of the UK's biggest trade events for installers, tradespeople and construction professionals, the show attracts more than
30,000 visitors and 800+ exhibitors to the NEC Birmingham. It brings together manufacturers, suppliers and trade suppliers from plumbing, heating, electrical, renewables, HVAC, construction and tools, making it one of the best places to see where the industry is heading.

We spent two full days walking every exhibition hall with never a dull moment. So, if you're interested in tools, storage and innovation, Installer Show, in our opinion, continues to be one of the most valuable events in the UK calendar.

Innovation is everywhere

One thing that stood out this year was just how much innovation is happening across the industry. From established manufacturers to smaller British businesses, there was no shortage of clever ideas solving everyday problems for installers.

We caught up with brands including Mileseey, Nerrad, Starrett, C.K Tools, Knipex, Mitsubishi Electric, Armeg, Velocity Pro Gear, Dart Tool Group, Tracer, Trappex, Blåkläder and many more.

Moasure was another standout example of how traditional measuring methods are being transformed, using digital technology to make capturing complex measurements faster and easier on site. It's a great example of how the tools of tomorrow don't always replace traditional skills, but instead help experienced professionals work more efficiently.

It's always encouraging to see brands continuing to invest in product development and innovation rather than simply refreshing existing ranges. That was certainly reflected in the conversations we had throughout the halls, where manufacturers were focused on genuine improvements rather than simple product refreshes.

A clear theme throughout the show was that innovation is no longer just about making tools faster or stronger. Increasingly, manufacturers are focusing on solving the everyday frustrations installers face, whether that's saving time on site, improving accuracy, reducing waste, making environmental improvements, or making equipment easier to transport and protect.

The biggest Installer Show 2026 trends we spotted:

Tool storage becoming a bigger investment area
✓ Greater focus on protecting expensive equipment
British innovation continuing to grow
✓ Smarter solutions for tradespeople working on site
Sustainability and efficiency driving product development

Tool storage continues to evolve

For us, one of the biggest areas of interest is always tool storage. We spent time looking at solutions from all the brands exhibiting storage this year, including Purdy's painters toolbox range. Purdy's new storage system will soon become the latest addition to our range of ready-made foam inserts, helping us support even more professionals looking for organised, protected tool storage.

Draper BUNKER were a particular highlight, too. We've recently expanded our range of foam inserts to support more of their growing modular storage system, making it even easier for owners to protect and organise their tools.

The days of throwing tools into a van and hoping everything is there at the end of the day are disappearing. Professional installers are investing heavily in systems that help them work faster, protect their equipment and maintain better control of their tools on site.

As more professionals invest in these premium storage systems, it's clear that protecting and organising expensive tools has become just as important as the tools themselves. It's a trend we've seen grow year after year and one that continues to drive demand for custom foam inserts.

Another level of tool protection

Our Shadow Foam tool box inserts are one part of a complete tool protection strategy. They help prevent tools from being misplaced, make it obvious when something is missing and significantly reduce the chances of leaving equipment behind on site. For many tradespeople, that's enough to save hundreds or even thousands of pounds over the lifetime of their tools.

But what happens when the worst does happen and your tools are stolen? With professional tools often representing thousands of pounds of personal investment, theft prevention has become a much bigger conversation across the trade.

That's where we had a great conversation with the team from SelectaDNA. Their forensic marking technology allows tools and equipment to be uniquely marked with an invisible, traceable code that links them back to the rightful owner. The markings are extremely difficult to remove and can help police identify recovered stolen property, acting as both a deterrent to thieves and a valuable aid in recovering stolen tools.

With tool theft continuing to affect tradespeople across the UK, it's easy to see why solutions like SelectaDNA are becoming an increasingly important part of a professional's toolkit. Combined with Shadow Foam inserts to keep tools organised and visible, they form part of a much stronger approach to protecting the investment you've worked hard to build.

As insurance requirements, asset tracking and security measures become bigger considerations for contractors and businesses, solutions like this are becoming an increasingly important part of a professional's toolkit.

Great conversations with great brands

One of the highlights was spending time with the team from Wagner where we caught up with "Mr DIY" Craig Phillips, the original winner of Big Brother UK who has since built a respected career as a qualified tradesman, TV presenter and brand ambassador. Craig was demonstrating the the Wagner FC3500, and even discussed how Shadow Foam inserts could be a great fit for protecting Wagner equipment inside tool bags and storage systems, which was great validation from someone who understands the demands of working on site.

We were also pleased to meet the team behind Scribe-Mate, an innovative British-made marking tool that's proving popular with carpenters, joiners and cabinet makers looking for greater accuracy of their finishes on site. Director Roy still making waves with this innovation at just 90 years young.

Another interesting conversation was with The Original Volt Stick. They were showcasing the heritage behind the brand and its role in popularising non-contact voltage testing, a technology that has since become a familiar part of many electricians' toolkits. Having used and seen many of the products inspired by this category over the years, that heritage really stood out.

We also caught up with Klein Tools, and it was great to see Velocity Pro Gear continuing to build collaborations across the trade, including partnerships with Nick Bundy and the aforementioned Draper BUNKER.

Familiar Faces

A visit to Installer Show isn't complete without stopping by the colourful Big Wipes stand. This year our Managing Director, Jonathan, was interviewed by the Big Wipes team, but they weren't the only familiar faces there.

It was also brilliant to meet so many familiar faces from the wider trade community throughout the show. Events like Installer Show are a reminder that the industry is built as much around relationships as it is around products.

Trade shows are always a great opportunity to catch up with people from across the industry. We also bumped into trade content creator King Louis, who was capturing plenty of the innovation and new products on display across the show. Looking ahead

Installer Show continues to grow every year and it's easy to see why. Whether you're looking for the latest tools, smarter storage solutions or genuinely innovative products, it's one of the best places to discover what's next for the trade.

After two days on our feet we'd barely scratched the surface but we came away with plenty of ideas, stronger relationships and a real sense that innovation and growth across the industry is moving faster than ever.

We are all for tool tourism in the course of developing our own business, knowledge and of course expanding our tool collection. But with incredible home-grown shows like this, it just shows you don't always need to head to Cologne or further afield.  While international shows such as Eisenwarenmesse remain hugely important to the global tools industry, Installer Show proves that the UK has a thriving annual event of its own. For anyone wanting to understand where the trade is heading, it has become an essential date in the calendar.

For us, that's probably the biggest takeaway from Installer Show 2026. The modern installer is investing more heavily in quality equipment and looking for better ways to protect that investment. Whether that's through smarter storage, better organisation or security solutions, the industry is clearly moving towards a more considered approach to tools.

We'll definitely be back next year.
